Dr Robyn Moffitt

Dr Robyn Moffitt Dr Robyn Moffitt is currently a Post-doctoral Fellow at CSIRO Food and Nutritional Sciences.

The research behind Dr Moffitt’s thesis, entitled Emotion, attentional focus and attainment of automaticity in expert sport performance, has indicated that emotions are detrimental to expert sport performance when they intrude during the execution phase, influencing the allocation of attentional resources during task execution and disrupting automaticity. In addition, her research findings collectively have suggested that negative emotions are more likely to interfere with sport performance via these attentional mechanisms than positive emotions. Dr Vast also holds the position of Adjunct Research Supervisor at Flinders University and a Visiting Research Fellow with Adelaide University.

Her current research interests include developing and evaluating interventions and programs for health related behaviour change. In particular, she is interested in diet and exercise behaviours, evaluating metacognitive strategies and psychological treatments for obesity (and related chronic diseases) and developing programs to bring about healthy and sustainable lifestyle change within this population.
