Michael AngelakisWell-known Adelaide personality Michael Angelakis AM has more than 40 years experience in the seafood, poultry and game industry and is currently the Managing Director of Angelakis Bros., a third-generation family-owned business. The company is involved in all facets of the seafood industry as retailers, wholesalers, processors, importers and marketers, as well as poultry and game processing.
Michael has sat on many industry and advisory boards throughout his career, including the South Australian Tourism Commission; chairman of the Seafood Industry Development Steering Committee; member of the Premier’s Food Council and the Federal Australian Fisheries and Seafood Forum.
Michael has a prominent involvement with the media in South Australia and since 2002, with his close friend the horticulturalist Michael Keelan, has been cooking up a seafood storm on the cooking/lifestyle television program Out of the Blue. They have released three cookbooks featuring recipes from the series and the program has taken the “Two Michaels” to some magical places not just around Australia’s remarkable coast but exciting overseas destinations as well.
In 2003 Michael was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his service to the development and promotion of the South Australian seafood, wine, food and tourism industries.
He is passionate about the seafood industry, South Australia and most importantly, his family.
